AFTER 125 YEARS LETS BID FAREWELL

The week of April 23, 2019, 125 years after the current flag was first raised, Mississippi will begin the process of lowing it with the 'Farewell Flag' initiative.

By hosting a series of community events, Change Mississippi hopes to bring Mississippians together to learn about Mississippi history, the current flag, discover and live vote for new state flag designs, hear from local leaders, and more.
​
Farewell Flag unites Mississippians again under one flag. There are several prominent flags designs to consider. During the event alternative Mississippi flags will be on display. Attendees will be able to vote for a new flag design and submissions are open to anyone. The winning flag design at each event will be gifted to the hosting city.
